A Postpartum Doula is an experienced person who offers non-medical support following the birth of a child. This care offers breastfeeding support, education, assistance with transitioning the newborn in to the family, and much more depending on the needs of each family. This care is associated with greater confidence in parenting skills and fewer incidences of postpartum depression.
The following are just a few of the many services provided: nurturing the bond between baby and mother, everything involving baby care, baby-calming techniques, light housekeeping & laundry, organization of baby's belongings, breastfeeding/bottle support, assistance with sibling care, nutritious meals/snack preparation, emotional support for mother/partner/family. Support can also be offered in baby wearing and cloth diapering.
